Assist in the operation, maintenance and repair of naval tugs and service craft assigned to Navy Region Northwest. Duties include handling towing and mooring lines, operating deck cranes, winches, capstans and fire equipment, performing light rigging, serving as a line handler during vessel arrivals and departures, relieving the captain in the pilot house during certain operations, navigating and maneuvering tugs alongside barges and docks, and performing maintenance and painting preservation of mechanical systems and deck machinery as well as daily checks of oil boom and safety equipment.
