Under direct supervision, assists marine engineers in the operation, maintenance and repair of ferry engines and auxiliary equipment. Duties include lubricating and cleaning machinery, monitoring gauges, maintaining boiler operations, handling fuel and lube oil, and assisting during emergency drills. Performs housekeeping and safeAssists ferry engineers with engine operation, lubrication, cleaning and safety duties; full-time position on Staten Island Ferry.ty tasks in engine room and participates in fire and lifeboat drills. Candidates must hold or obtain a Merchant Mariner Credential with appropriate oiler or QMED endorsements, maintain a TWIC, and pass medical and drug screening.
